SABnzbd 0.6.14 has been released on the 10th of December. The package repository has been updated and you shall be able to update you installation. The build was done on git hub commit ecedddf604.

On the website tweakers there is a program SUBNIMAL. This program downloads al the subtitles you need (movies/series)

I was totally confused by the architecture attribute next to the version of sabnbzd on the package page.. then I realized the one all the way at the bottom said x86 and that’s the one I needed for my ds1511+. just in case anyone else couldn’t figure that out.. that’s the one you need if your nas has an atom cpu

awesome! thx. but i have one question. i tried to set up my DS-409+ with your repository but it always didnt recognise it. so i have to set up the sabnzbd manually.
what should i do? deinstall the installed version and afterwards install this new package? or just “update”?

I have a DS 410 and tried to install the latest sabnzbd. Unfortunately while the sabnzbd user will be created in the “/etc/passwd” the username will not show up in the control panel of DSM so that it can be assigned to other user groups as well.
Furthermore I found that the command line option used during install/upgrade “adduser … -u” is not supported by the adduser package available (1.10.3) via ipkg.
In the earlier sabnzbd.spk you used “synouser” to add the sabnzbd user why did you switch?

I have a problem with this update of SABnzbd as well – while it works with nzb files passed from Sick Beard, I can not manually add nab files, either via the ‘fetch’ or ‘upload’ options – the upload/fetch appears to work, but no file ever appears in the download list . . .

… curiously, the downloads seem to be progressing, based on a review of the contents of the “incomplete” folder — there is simply no reference to them in the web interface of sabnzbd. Perhaps they will show up in the completed list once they are finished…

… sure enough, the completed download shows up in the history section of the web interface. Anyone else seeing similar behavior? I tried restarting sabnzbd from the web interface, queue repair, and even stopping and starting the sabnzbd service — no change in behavior.

@tjeh: As with previous updates using this new repository technology, the application specific user will disappear once the upgrade is complete. This does not affect the application’s performance in my experience and should reappear the next time you reboot your NAS

Everything works fine (connexions / downloads / except for an unexpected warning message in the log file which fires precisely every 30 minutes :

don’t download anything from the repository. please read the previous post by Zebulon, and add the package repository to your Synology. it will automatically download the correct packages for your architecture.

I see many packages, which one should I pick???
Should I also update the Phyton version from 2.6.4 to 2.6.5 before I update Sabnzbd.

I try to make it work, but not seem to works fine for me.
My Volume name are “Volume 1″ (instead of Volume1), the only way i found the make the name of the Folder working, is to type this : \Volume 1\Download\Newsgroup\complete
But SABnzb (in the Synology) seem not create the missing folder, and eaven if i create it, after a donwload, there is nothing appear in the folder.
But if i check the file that as been download (the properties in the NZV Interface), i notice this : /usr/local/var/sabnzbd/\Volume 1\Download\Newsgroup\complete/nameof the file
What’s wrong ?

I just received my new ds411+II today and started to transfer my files and apps to that new nas. From my ds207+ to this new speed monster.
All went fine. Setup of SB and CP and Sabnzb all fine.

hi guys,
i used to run an older version of this just fine. after update, even though the package is running, i can’t access the service anymore, either on 8080 or on 9090 (https). tried uninstalling/installing again to no avail. does anyone please know how can i completely uninstall this so as to be able to install again? latest DSM on ds209+II here. thanks!

I figured it out.
I had to give permissions to the users group on de video share. After that all was fine.
Don’t like this, but it is the only way to let it work.
Please make the users visible again so we can give the right permissions per user ! -

Finaly make it work… seem only working on a share folder name “downloads”. It can’t work from anywhere else, and can’t transfer finish material anywhere else. It’s only work in the share folder “downloads”.
I also notice that under windows, even if i give to my user all right and permission, i can’t see the content of all folder, except of the “complete” subfolder. All other (email, incomplete, logs, nzb, nzb_backup) can’t be access under Samba method, only from the Synology web interface.

Hi guys, i have the same problem that flavio have.
When i install sabnzbd packages it works fine.
I create a share folders “downloads” and when i look for give the right to sabnzbd user, i do not have user sabnzbd create. So i try to create one, it doesn’t work and tell me error 244.
Do you have any idea of the problem ?
Do i have to start sabnzbd to resolve it ?
I have a DS212+ with a DSM 3.2

Yes i see in the /etc/passwd that the user exist.
But when i launch sabnzbd and i adding a source .nzb the download don’t works.
And when i look at the log i have in french :

In english :

Do you have any idea what the issue i have and how to resolve it ?

Oliv: telnet into your box and chmod the directory with 777 for the user sabnzbd I think that might do the trick
I installed the package but my services won’t start. I tried reinstalling all of them but no succes whatsoever. where can I find the log files to start troubleshooting?

Yes, I seem to be having a problem similar to Oliv’s… Installation finishes perfectly here, however nothing seems to be running on 8080 after it. I can’t access SABnzbd : /
The weird thing is that I do see user “sabnzbd” on etc/passwd, but not through the DSM interface. I wonder if this could be happening because of this? For instance, I can’t give the “sabnzbd” user access to the “downloads” share, since again this user seems completely invisible to the DSM. And worse still, I can’t create a new “sabnzbd” user as I get the “The operation failed. Please log in to DSM again and retry. (244).” error.
Can someone please help me out of this one? Any suggestion at all would be super useful… Thanks a bunch!

I would like to re-ask you for recompiling Sickbeard under a different package name and path (sickbeard-HD for instance) so we can run two instances of sickbeard. a lot of people would like to have two instances running (one for SD and one for HD) since SIckbeard won’t be supporting dual downloads for a while..thank you!

I believe I have discovered a bug in your latest release of sabnzbd for synology. I am running plex media server on my synology ds411+II and I recently added your repository and installed the latest version of python, sabnzbd + sickbeard. I am now convinced that sabnzbd is preventing proper operation of the plex application. as soon as I installed sabnzbd I was unable to connect to plex using my LG medialink tv (this plex client depends on Bonjour/avahi to connect). I *believe* the issue is Sabnzbd is nuking plex directories permissions. I have verified that it changed all the plex server files permissions in the /volume1/@appstore/plex media server directory.

I have a big problem now. 2day i received new modem but after setup my synology and sabnzbd downloading like 20KB/s. When i download on my desktop with newsleecher the speed is 4MB/s. I am totally lost. i though i need to forward port 119 but thats not the solution. I need ur help

Hey Zebulon, Great work.I installed version 0.6.9.1 earlier and it worked like a charm. To update i deleted that version and installeed 0.6.14.1. However, as mentioned by some other people above, the user sabnzbd is not visible in the overview of users and therewith it is not possible in the DSM dashboard to grant this user access to downloads. Since I am not willing to give access to everyone, nor doing command line stuff I reverted back to 0.6.9.1
Is there a workaround in the dashboard or is this a bug?

I was hoping some one in here could help me.
When sabnzbd starts download, the chmod of the downloaded files and folders are 600.
Which means when they are moved to my movie folder i dont have access to them.Anyone experienced that before?

Found a way to bypass the issue…
Once the Name of the file download contain illegal Char, i use the “download” feature on the Synolology Explorer to download it to my computer (Synology Zip it then download the zip).
once done, i delete the folder, and unzip the download file from my desktop, rename it and re-copy it to my NAS.

Just in case it was not known. Newzbin will change domains in a couple of weeks to newzbin2.es – so this will probably break the Newzbin Support in its current state. Hopefully you will update the package to reflect this.
